Children's Integrated Services

Children’s Integrated Services (CIS) is a resource for pregnant or postpartum women and for families with children from birth to age six.

Children’s Integrated Services can help:

Pregnant or Postpartum Women - If you have questions about your pregnancy or the overall well-being of your family or if you have concerns about a condition or risk situation that impacts your or your baby's health or safety;

Families - If you have questions about the overall well being of your family or if you have concerns about providing a stable, healthy environment for your children;

Children - If you are the parent of a child age 6 or younger, and you have questions about your child’s development and behavior or if you have concerns about a suspected developmental delay or condition.

You can reach Sue Bloomer, the CIS program coordinator, by calling 388-3171 or by email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .  When she speaks with you, she will ask you questions about your concerns and any assistance you are seeking, explain your rights as a parent, and inform you about possible next steps for you and your family. Your call and the information about your family is confidential and won’t be shared with others without your consent.

From the time of your call, you will be assigned a primary contact person who may visit in your home, should you choose.  You also will have access to a team of people who have expertise in social work and family support; maternal/child health and nursing; child development and early intervention; early childhood and family mental health; and other specialties (e.g., nutrition, speech and language therapy).  This team can:

  • Help develop an action plan for your child and family
  • Provide whatever resources and services that you may need and want and/or make referrals
  • Help you through any transitions to other community services

Each family is unique and the goal is to provide the comprehensive supports which will enable each member to be healthy and to thrive.

The Children’s Integrated Services Program (CIS) is Vermont’s new name for the child development and family support services formerly provided by three programs: Healthy Babies Kids & Families, Children’s Upstream Services, and the Family Infant & Toddler Program.
